Melanie McEvoy is the owner and president of McEvoy & Associates, a New York-based fundraising event and strategy consulting firm for the non-profit and political sectors. Now a decade in business, Melanie uses her expertise to develop, manage and implement successful, targeted fundraising programs and events that have raised millions of dollars for her clients.   Melanie’s firm support of women’s issues and diversity is reflected in the non-profit clients she serves, including the Women’s Campaign Forum, the Foundation of Westchester Clubmen, the Pipeline project, and the New York Women’s Agenda.  As well she is committed to the social and political issue-based organizations such as STRIVE, Abyssinian Development Corporation, Citizens Union and Search for Common Ground.   Melanie’s motto is that she does not take on clients with missions’ she does not believe in or of organizations she would not join.  This tradition keeps her and her staff firmly connected to the core of the clients they represent and helps to inspire the support of donors and funders.  

Previous Fundraising Experience

  • Melanie began her career with the Women’s Campaign Fund, a Washington, D.C.-based political action committee, where she managed the organization’s annual dinner parties.  She is now proud to report that WCF is a regular client.
  • In 1995, she helped raise funds to oppose an anti-affirmative action proposition in California, building a coalition of over 400 civil rights and women’s organizations and spearheading a fundraising effort that generated a significant amount of funds for the cause.
  • Prior to launching McEvoy & Associates, Melanie was a partner at Levine/McEvoy Fundraising Consultants, a political fundraising firm that received the Best Client List 2000 Award from Campaigns & Elections Magazine. She got her start raising money political candidates and issue-based campaigns.
  • When Melanie bought out her partner in 2002, she retained 100% of her client list and has led the firm to steady growth—nearly doubling its business in just three years.

Personal Support for Causes

  • Melanie often provides pro-bono fundraising advice, strategy and training to progressive political candidates.
  • In 2000, Melanie co-founded WOMEN PAC, a leading advocate for women’s political and social interests. Of the 12 candidates they endorsed for city office, 25% were elected.
  • She is the Immediate Past President of the local chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO-NYC) and served as their Public Policy Chair, Vice Chair of the Signature Awards Event, and First Vice President.
  • McEvoy & Associates provides pro-bono fundraising counsel to the New York Women’s Agenda, an umbrella group of over 100 women’s organizations in New York City, and Honoring Eleanor Roosevelt:  Preserving Her Val-Kill Home.


Melanie earned a degree in Women’s Studies and Sociology at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where she grew up.  She hosted a public affairs radio show and received the Audrey Lourde Award for Outstanding Student of Women’s Studies for her role in creating the university’s Women’s Center.  While in college, Melanie was a community organizer and activist, participating in a statewide effort to keep Nevada’s pro-choice laws intact. The measure passed with 63% of the vote.
